I am an English teacher. Every week I stand in front of real classes, and every week I hear the same mistakes.
“She go to school.” “Yesterday I go to the market.” “I am student.” “I have 20 years.” Different students, different countries — but the same mistakes, again and again.
When I looked at what is on offer online, I saw lots of websites for people who already speak English. They give you more words, more grammar, more tests. But they don't ask the important question: why do so many learners make the same mistakes — and how do we stop them?
So I built this site to do something different.
Here, a mistake is not the end of a lesson. It is the start of one. When you keep making the same mistake, the site notices. It takes you back to the basics, shows you why people make that mistake (very often it is because your first language works differently), gives you the rule, a memory trick and sometimes a bit of history — and then you practise until you can use it correctly on your own.
Learning the pattern is important. But it is not enough. You also need to understand why it works, how to build it and when to use it — and when not to. That is the part of English you don't usually get in a normal lesson, and it is what this site is about.
And once you have got it, we won't let you sit still. You move on to the next challenge, and you put your skills together — reading, writing, fixing and speaking.
My goal is simple: a student who arrives speaking no English should leave this site feeling the difference.
